Sydney Univ Flames come to the Bush Capital for a weekend double header against AIS this evevning and Canberra Capitals on Saturday evening at the AIS Arena.
AIS vs Logan Thunder at AIS Training Hall on 21st November 2009. It kind of feels like it’s AIS’s “first” home game in many years.
Nunawading Spectres has had a tough weekend in the nation’s capital, defeated by Canberra Gunners on Saturday and the AIS Basketball Team this afternoon at the AIS Training Hall. It was such an excitement to see the line-up of the AIS Basketball Team this year, from 2nd year stars like Jordan Page, Brock Motum to new scholarship holders like Jason Cadee. With a victory at hand in their first home game and this will definitely be a thrilling year of basketball for the AIS.

Nunawading Spectres 72 (Nathan Kennedy 13, J Todorov 11, Mark Whitehead 10)
AIS centre Elizabeth Cambage had left Dandenong Rangers with no answer to her tactic, height, and ability to draw fouls tonight at AIS’s last home game at the AIS Training Hall. Her 27pts penetration in the paint and duo between Dandenong’s Jennifer Benningfield is her highlight of AIS’s 2008/2009 WNBL campaign at home. What a way to send-off the graduating AIS players.
With only two points separating on the score board by Q1 and half-time, you can smell the AIS would not want to let this one go. AIS guards had their speed at hands, forwards were pounding baskets, and with Cambage’s final quarter performance, there is a 6 points lead for the home side with only 2 minutes on the clock.
Into the final seconds, bench became too hot to sit on, AIS players on the sideline were on their feet cheering for every play they witnessed to a glorious second victory this year.

Dandenong Rangers 74 (Jennifer Benningfield 30, Alison Downie 13, Caitlin Cunningham 8 )
AIS were looking for a change to redeem themselves from last week’s 3-point lost to Logan Thunders. The 1st quarter was a close battle, but with Liz Cambage and Alice Kunek both on bench, there was simply not enough support on court to counter the offensive power from Logan. AIS went on to lose the match 72-53 at the AIS Training Hall. Rachel Jarry was once again the more dominating player from the AIS with 18 points and 5 rebounds.
