It was such an excitement to see the line-up of the AIS Basketball Team this year, from 2nd year stars like Jordan Page, Brock Motum to new scholarship holders like Jason Cadee. With a victory at hand in their first home game and this will definitely be a thrilling year of basketball for the AIS.

The Australian Senior Women Basketball Team, The Opals, campaign is beginning to shape up and ready for its Camps #1 in AIS from April 2-5. Among the 28 athletes selected for the squad, three current Canberra Capitals players were named. I used the word “current” because there is Lauren Jackson and Tully Bevilaqua who you can’t credit more for their past contribution to the Capitals WNBL success.
Natalie Hurst, Abby Bishop, and Marianna Tolo, all Grand-finalists in the 2008/09 WNBL season for the Canberra Capitals, will suit up for the Australian team in 2009. All 3 of them are expected to attend the first Opals Camp at AIS Training Hall in April and are will likely take part in a 2-match series against New Zealand Tall Ferms at AIS in September.
We will see a lot of familiar faces in the Opals squad, including Tully Bevilaqua and of course the Opals head coach Carrie Graf.

They met 4 times in the 2008/09 season of WNBL. Bulleen had gotten closer each and every time.
This evening, at the ultimate decider, Bulleen Boomers got real close. But not close enough.
In fact, it was worlds apart. Congratulations to the Canberra TransACT Capitals - WNBL Champion of the 2008/09.
